Ocena skuteczności terapii opartej na protokole wielolekowej chemioterapii podtrzymującej (CHOP-MA) bazującej na mitoksantronie w leczeniu chłoniaka u psów. Cz. I

Results

A total of 72 dogs satisfied inclusion criteria and were enrolled in this chemotherapy protocol. Lymphoma was confirmed in 49 dogs by histopathology. Forty-seven of the samples for histology were obtained from peripheral lymph nodes. A histopathological diagnosis of lymphoma was also made from one colonic mass and one thoracic lymph node. Cytopathologic evaluation of fine-needle aspirates obtained from peripheral lymph node (8 cases), mesenteric lymph node (2 cases), bone marrow (7 cases), liver (2 cases), pleural effusion (2 cases), lung mass (1 case) and anterior chamber of the eye (1 case), was used to definitively diagnose lymphoma in 23 cases. Sixty-five dogs had multicentric lymphoma, two dogs had gastroin-testinal lymphoma, two dogs had ocular lymphoma and two dogs had pulmonary lymphoma. One dog had a cranial mediastinal mass as the sole site of lymphoma. After excluding the 7 dogs with atypical lymphoma, a homogenous group consisting of 65 dogs with multicentric lymphoma remained and was used for further analysis.

There were 33 males (51%, 10 intact) and 32 females (49%, 4 intact). The mean age and weight was 7.15 years and 26.6 k, respectively. Overall, there were 53 pure breed dogs with the breeds most frequently represented being Golden Retrievers (nine animals), Labrador Retrievers (six animals), and Yorkshire Terriers (four animals).
